This policy explains what Wellread (“we”, “us”) collects when you use it, why, who else handles it, and how long we keep it.
What Wellread does
Wellread is an AI visibility audit. You enter your company’s website. Wellread reads the site’s public pages and asks ChatGPT and Gemini the kinds of questions your buyers ask about your market. The result is a report: whether AI answers name your company, who they name instead, and what to change.
What we collect
From Google, when you sign in
Your name, email address, whether Google has verified that email, your profile picture, and an identifier for your Google account. We ask Google for nothing else: Wellread has no access to your Gmail, Drive or Calendar.
What you give us
- Your workspace’s name.
- The website address you enter, and any buyer questions you add.
What Wellread produces for you
- Audit reports: the public page text Wellread read from the website, the questions, the AI engines’ answers, and the recommendations.
- Page drafts Wellread writes from your site for the pages the audit recommends.
- Requests you send our team (“Have our team do it”).
- The “done” and “not now” marks you put on recommended actions.
- Your team’s notifications.
Records we keep to run the service
- Sign-in events, including the IP address of new sign-ups, which we use to limit abuse.
- Which pages of the app you open, and when you share or print a report. We keep this in our own database to see how Wellread is used.
- The competitors you name or choose, and each change you make to that list.
- Messages you write to us from the app’s Help button, with the page you were on, so we can answer and keep track of what was asked.
- Usage and cost records for each call Wellread makes to an AI engine.
- Billing records: your subscription’s status and dates, and a log of changes to it. We never hold card numbers.
- Error reports from your browser: the page, the error message and the app release. They never include what you type into forms.
How Wellread uses data from your Google account
We use your name and email address only to sign you in and to identify you in your workspace. We don’t use Google user data for anything else, and we don’t share it except with the providers listed below, to run the service.
Who else handles data
These providers process data for us, only to run Wellread:
- Auth0 (Okta) handles sign-in. Our Auth0 tenant is in the United States.
- Google (Gemini API) and OpenAI (API) receive the website address, text from its public pages, the buyer questions and the business description, to produce the audit. This is data about your company, not personal data about you.
- Google (Analytics) receives which pages are opened and which steps are taken, without your website’s name or anything from your reports: see Analytics below.
- Stripe takes payments for subscriptions. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers. Stripe receives your workspace’s name and the email address of the person who subscribes, and tells us whether the subscription is paid.
- Slack carries our team’s internal alerts: the workspace name, the website address and the email of the person who started an audit or asked our team for help, and what you write to us through the app’s Help, so we can follow up.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts our server and database, and sends our emails.
- Email you send to support@trywellread.com is received by AWS, kept there for 30 days, and forwarded to our team’s inboxes at Google (Google Workspace).
Where your data is stored
On our own server and database on AWS, in the ap-south-1 region (Mumbai, India).
Cookies and browser storage
- One session cookie keeps you signed in. It can’t be read by scripts on the page, and it lasts up to 60 days from when you last used Wellread.
- One short-lived sign-in cookie protects the Google sign-in flow. It lasts 10 minutes.
- Your browser’s storage keeps your light or dark theme choice, and the website you typed on our home page until your first audit starts.
We use no advertising cookies.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics on this website and in the app to see which pages people reach, which steps they take (such as starting an audit or opening the subscribe page), and where they stop. It sets its own cookies to tell one visit from another.
- We send it page addresses with their ids and codes removed, and the names of steps. We never send it your website’s name, your report, your questions, your email address, or anything you type.
- We don’t use it for advertising, and its advertising features are switched off.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it stays off until you accept. Elsewhere it is on unless you turn it off.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Emails we send
- Invitations, when someone in a workspace invites you.
- “Your audit is ready” and “Your audit didn’t finish”, to the person who started the audit. For weekly audits, that’s the workspace owner.
- “Your payment didn’t go through”, to the workspace owner.
- One reminder when a first audit has been waiting ten minutes to be started, one about the pages your free audit wrote, and one a week after a free audit, all to the workspace owner. Every reminder has a link that stops them.
How long we keep it
- Records of background jobs are deleted after 30 days, and those of jobs that failed after 90 days.
- Page drafts and requests to our team are kept while your workspace exists.
- Reports and account data are kept while your workspace exists.
- There’s no way to delete your account or workspace yourself yet: write to us and we’ll do it.
